OUR STORY

Onslow Bay Boatworks was started in 2005 by Brad Knight, a second generation boat builder following in the footsteps of his father. The first boat built was a 17’ and then a 20’. Because of his love of offshore fishing, Brad turned his sights on designing the ultimate offshore tournament fishing boat in the under 30’ range.

After many years of fishing the Southern Kingfish Association tournament trail, he saw that there was an opportunity in the 23’ and under category. It was measured by waterline length and not length overall, so he was able to build a 27’ boat to fit into and dominate that category. The first Onslow Bay 23 Tournament Edition splashed in August of 2007 and the rest is history.

Over the years the SKA has modified its rules and we were able to call the 23 Tournament what it actually was, the Onslow Bay 27 Offshore Edition. From there, the 32 Tournament came to be which was eventually converted into our first step hull, the Onslow Bay 33 Tournament Edition.

In 2016 Brad began to design the Onslow Bay 41 after seeing the rise in popularity of quad powered boats. From the beginning, it was meant to be a boat with more creature comforts and a more refined fit and finish. The mold for the Onslow Bay 37 Tournament Edition, which is a slightly smaller triple engine version of the 41’, was completed in 2023.
